Grass Valley Charter School at Bell Hill is a public charter school, incorporated in 1993. We hold the 22nd charter in the state of California and are one of a growing number of schools in the country formally affiliated with the nationally recognized Expeditionary Learning Schools Outward Bound® (ELS) organization, which blends traditional studies with meaningful expeditions, hands-on project work, community service and adventure. Since opening our doors in 1993, our enrollment has steadily increased to over 290 students even as many other schools have seen student population declines. We attribute this to our exceptional staff, committed parents, and the educational philosophy behind Expeditionary Learning.
We provide safe, challenging and creative learning opportunities for everyone while valuing individual opinions, aspirations and dreams. GVCS values the use of the natural world existing beyond the classroom walls.
School community and a unique "family feel" secure our learning environment. GVCS offers three educational options - Core Academic, Discovery Studies and our new GVCS Preschool.
